JF Marin |
This vast and inviting ski resort is made up of four different areas each with its own distinctive personality.
Val Claret (2200), Tignes Le Lac (2100), Les Boisses(1850) and Les Brevieres(1550)
Val Claret
There is no doubt that Tignes Val Claret is a purpose built village mainly made up of ugly apartment blocks.
However it also has some good quality hotels at the lower end of the market as well as a superb collection of catered chalets, self-catered chalets and apartments. So, if 1850 is where you want to be then don't be put off.
There is definitely something for everyone!
Here is where the choice of shops are, from ski shops to shops selling beautiful clothes and jewellery, as well as local Savoyard products and food. Everything you need is here; banks, chemists, petrol station, optician, laundrette, video hire. (search under Resort Info).
There are numerous restaurants and bars all within walking distance from the centre of the resort. The choice is prolific from gourmet restaurants to pizzas and crepes. Look out also for restaurants serving traditional Savoyard faire.

Les Boisses (1850)
Tignes Les Boisses is based by the dam It is much smaller than Le Lac and Val Claret and less chic but also less expensive. It is built along the amazing dam and boasts some good ski runs, nice shops and a busy social scene.
Les Brevieres (1550)
This is the real Tignes and although comprises of mainly modern buildings it does has a sort of village feel to it. It has everything you need here and some good bars and restaurants and of course linked to the Espace Killy! It is a great resort for families.
